TL;DR is internet slang for ‘too long ; didn’t read’
, a declaration of apathy in a
digital age, where a constant stream of information has rendered our ability to
process sections of text, largerthan what can fit into a SoMe caption, inert. This
is the reality that SYL’s second album exists in. TL;DR is a thoroughly political
piece inspired by propaganda taken from different parts ofworld history. On
TL;DR, SYL struggles with some of the problems that modern, late-stage
capitalist society has created for us humans: ideological division, growing
inequality, climate collapse, mental health crisis and increasing misinformation.
SYL has their background in Hardcore, but on TL;DR they fuse that background
with influences from an array of other musical genres such as EDM, Pop and
Indie Rock. That’s more than evident through the different collaborators SYL
has worked with on the album, including artists like Honningbarna, Sivas,
Karoline Funder, Østen and EYES.
