Teitur & Dreamers' Circus with Mads Kjøller Henningsen
Teitur and Dreamers' Circus first collaborated on a Dreamers' Circus song (Brestisskvæði) in 2020 and then played a couple of winter concerts together in 2022, which were so well received that they ended up working on a complete live set of Christmas/winter songs, both new and arrangements of covers, for a longer Christmas concert tour together in December 2023, one of which was broadcast live on Danmarks Radio DR to great acclaim.
Teitur recounts this period: ‘Nikolaj's wife was about to give birth, and Mads Kjøller Henningsen stepped in. Suddenly, after Nikolaj's return, Dreamer's Circus, which is normally a trio, became a quintet, and a whole new creative process began.’ This convinced everyone that they should record these songs and more and compile them into an album, which they did during the summer of 2024, recorded and produced by Teitur in his studio in the Faroe Islands and recently mixed by American super-mixer Bruce Lampcov and mastered by Norwegian studio master George Tanderø.
The result is the brilliant, eclectic and modern folk/indie/pop/punk fusion album ‘Yule’ with a mix of English, Faroese and Danish titles, which was released last Christmas on CD and digitally and will finally be released on vinyl on 11 December 2025 on Arlo and Betty Recordings. The single ‘Twelve Days’ is a modern reinterpretation of the Christmas classic, serving as a preview of the 12-track smorgasbord of winter wonder.
